ZUMS Chancellor Highlights Major Achievements of the Family Medicine Program

The Chancellor of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences (ZUMS) has announced significant achievements in the implementation of the Family Medicine Program during a national webinar on the Referral System and Family Medicine, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Health. According to Webda Zanjan, on the morning of Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Dr. Saeed Sardari, Chancellor of ZUMS, presented a comprehensive report on the performance of a selected county in Zanjan Province and outlined the key outcomes of the program.

Dr. Sardari stated that in the selected county, the program has resulted in four free physician visits, an 89.45% increase in appointment scheduling, and a 15.43% referral rate from primary care (Level I) to secondary care (Level II).

Emphasizing the strong engagement of the public toward the initiative, Dr. Sardari noted that 90 percent of the population in the county has been assigned to a family physician, reflecting substantial progress in expanding access to organized primary healthcare services.

The national webinar was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammadreza Zafarghandi, Minister of Health, and Engineer Taher Mohebati, Deputy Minister for Development. It was also noted that Dr. Seyed Sajjad Razavi, Deputy Minister for Treatment, attended Zanjan University of Medical Sciences as a special guest during the event.
