Dr. Sardari, Chancellor of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, met with the newly appointed head of the Zanjan Provincial Broadcasting Center (IRIB). While congratulating him on his appointment, Dr. Sardari underscored the necessity of bilateral cooperation to promote public health culture and enhance health literacy in the community.According to Webda Zanjan, Dr. Sardari, accompanied by the University’s deputy directors, visited the Zanjan Provincial Broadcasting Center and held a meeting with Eng. Reza Setaripour, Acting Head of the Center, to discuss the expansion of media-based and health-oriented collaboration.

Unsung sacrifices of healthcare workers during the war

In the meeting, Eng. Setaripour commended the strong performance of the national and provincial health system during the recent war, stating that the health sector provided exceptional services to the public with remarkable dedication and largely without public recognition—services that words can scarcely describe. He added that the Broadcasting Center is prepared, in collaboration with the University of Medical Sciences, to portray the sacrifices of faculty members, physicians, and nurses through special artistic and media productions.Emphasizing that the health system is a key pillar of social capital, Eng. Setaripour noted that, through a wide range of specialized and subspecialized services, the health sector plays a distinctive role in strengthening national resilience during crises. He further stated that to successfully navigate this critical juncture, the public should be provided with a clear understanding of the health system’s achievements, and that several programs have been planned in this regard.

Narrating dedication—from voluntary presence to ensuring access to medicines

Dr. Sardari also described the health sector’s full-scale response during the recent war. He noted that, by God’s grace and through the efforts of colleagues, not a single vaccination was delayed, and the public did not experience shortages of medicines. Referring to scenes of solidarity and commitment among healthcare personnel, he stated that from the moment hostile attacks began, waves of healthcare workers voluntarily reported to hospitals. Staff members outside their scheduled shifts—and even those on leave—presented themselves at medical centers without being called upon, in order to provide services.

Agreement on shared priorities: from prevention to youth population policies

Dr. Sardari highlighted the considerable capacity for cooperation between the University of Medical Sciences and the national broadcaster, stressing that communicating the health and medical services delivered under the Islamic Republic requires skillful and professional media engagement.At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed on key priorities, including promoting the family physician program, supporting youth population policies, and producing health-oriented programming with a particular emphasis on the principle of prevention over treatment. They also underscored the need to strengthen dynamic and effective communication between the health sector and the public through the provincial media.
