A Nursing expert: Safe transfer is essential to ensuring patient safety

A Nursing Expert from Razi Hospital in Mahneshan emphasized the importance of adhering the scientific protocols in the transfer of patients, outlining a series of vital actions to preserve patients’ health during this process

 

 

In an interview with the Webda-Zanjan news agency.  Mr. Ajali Nia stated that the safe and effective transfer of patients from healthcare centers to specialized hospital is one of the most significant challenges in the field of pre-hospital and hospital emergency care deeming it a necessary that requires precision and adherence to scientific protocols.

He emphasized the need to strictly follow care standards during the transportation of patients and highlighted the vital importance of maintaining an open airway and continuously monitoring the patients’ vital signs. He added that stabilizing the patients condition using appropriate splints, especially in cases of skeletal and traumatic injuries, is a fundamental step to prevent secondary injuries during transfer.

This expert noted that pain management and creating a calming environment for the patient are also crucial priorities that significantly help reduce stress and improve the overall condition of the patients.

He considered the complete readiness of the transport team to respond quickly to emergency conditions as highly important and stated that documenting and conveying comprehensive medical information about the patient to the treatment team at the destination hospital not only accelerates the treatment process but also prevents unnecessary repetition of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.

Mr. Ajali Nia referred to the necessity of stablishing two intravenous (IV) lines for patients being transferred, adding that this preventive measure ensures reliable venous access in critical situations and guarantees the rapid administration of vital medications and fluids.

In conclusion, this expert described the ultimate goal of implementing these guidelines and protocols as the enhancement of the quality of healthcare services, the maximum preservation of patient’s health and safety during the transfer process and ultimately, the satisfaction of patients and their families.
