Dr. Mohammadreza Saeini, Vice-Chancellor for Health and Head of the Provincial Health Center, highlighting key health priorities and challenges, emphasized the necessity of intensified monitoring to ban the supply of unauthorized agricultural pesticides in pesticide shops and herbalist stores (Attaris). He stated that preventing easy access to these toxic and hazardous substances requires continuous oversight and inspection by responsible authorities.

According to WebDA-Zanjan, Dr. Mohammadreza Saeini made these remarks during the first meeting of the Committee for Safeguarding Public Rights in Health and Food Security, held today, October 10 (Mehr 18), at the Roozbeh International Convention Center. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prosecutor for Public Rights of Zanjan, Eng. Jafar Motahari, Head of the Secretariat of the University’s Specialized Working Group on Health and Food Security, and representatives of relevant executive bodies.Addressing the issue of monitoring rural drinking water quality, Dr. Saeini added: “Excessive nitrate levels beyond permissible standards in the drinking water sources of certain villages constitute a major challenge. Resolving this requires fundamental, sustainable solutions, as well as bringing unmanaged rural water systems under the coverage of designated responsible authorities.”Subsequently, Dr. Taherkhani, Deputy Prosecutor for Public Rights of Zanjan, underscored that health is an undeniable right of citizens. Emphasizing that the judiciary will not tolerate any negligence regarding the preservation and provision of public health, he stated: “The presence of the Public Rights Department ensures rigorous monitoring of public demands and guarantees the implementation of resolutions. Failure to execute decisions in this domain is considered an instance of administrative dereliction of duty (tork-e fe’l).” He called for enhanced inter-agency coordination, prioritization of challenges, and special attention to the province’s water issues, grounded in scientific and research findings.

At the outset of the meeting, Eng. Motahari, Head of the Secretariat of the University’s Specialized Working Group on Health and Food Security, presented a report on previous resolutions. Following his remarks, Dr. Peida, a faculty member at the School of Public Health and Head of the Research Group of the Environmental Pollutants Review Committee, outlined the objectives behind the formation of this committee along with its upcoming research and executive programs.
