History

The Cancer Gene Therapy Research Center received its preliminary approval on May 2, 2012, and was subsequently granted final approval on May 24, 2021.

About the Center

Following the acquisition of preliminary approval on May 2, 2012, the Center initiated its research activities. Over the years, through sustained scientific activity and the publication of numerous international research articles in the field of cancer gene therapy, the Center successfully obtained its final operational approval on May 24, 2021.

Currently, the Center operates with one full‑time faculty member, four part‑time faculty members, and one research expert. In addition, it benefits from a Research Council composed of ten faculty members from different schools of the university. The Center is located on the upper floor of the Comprehensive Research Laboratory and conducts its activities within two dedicated rooms.

To further expand its research capacity, the Center has established collaborative agreements with the Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology Research Center, the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Research Center, and the Comprehensive Research Laboratory. In the near future, the Center also plans to develop collaborations and sign memoranda of understanding with other relevant research centers and universities working in related scientific fields.

Mission

The mission of the Center is to contribute to the advancement of innovative cancer gene therapy approaches through research and development in oncology, with particular emphasis on cancers prevalent in the province. The Center also aims to strengthen collaborative scientific interactions with other related research institutions in order to enhance the scope and impact of its research activities.

 

Vision

The Center envisions the optimal utilization of the scientific and research capacities of Zanjan University of Medical Sciences, other universities within the province, and relevant organizations to promote and disseminate applied research in cancer gene therapy. Ultimately, it aims to develop into a comprehensive and high‑quality research center that supports, advances, and promotes cancer gene therapy at the national level.
